What does Wellbeing mean to you?

Meditation

Why not try Meditating? Meditating is scientifically proven to improve your wellbeing, enhance your sleep and reduce your stress and is probably the single most important thing you can do for your health.

 

And there are a number of ways you can fit meditation into your day. Perhaps while waiting at traffic lights, standing in a queue, or sitting at your desk at work. 

 

Breathing

Just breathing in an out, deeply, for 5 inhales and 5 exhales can calm your mind and relax your body. It has been shown to reduce anxiety and feelings of overwhelm.

 

Perhaps you have become a short, shallow mouth breather without even realising it due to long-term stress. This alone will increase your feelings of stress and anxiety, and tells your body you are in a

stressful situation and it should be on high alert. 

 

However, focussing on, and slowing down your rate of breathing, can help you reconnect to yourself, and let your body know there is nothing it needs to worry about.

 

 

Be Mindful

Practice getting out of your head and into your body. Yep that's right. Stop getting caught up in thoughts, and worries, and what-ifs and if-onlys and just focus on what is happening right here, right now.

 

Try pausing, at regular times during the day, and notice how you are feeling. And then notice what you were thinking. And you will soon realise how what you think affects how you feel every single time.

Connect Emotionally With Others

Human beings are social animals and we are hard wired to be social, to get along with others, and to be connected. It's how we've survived this long. Anyone who didn't get along with their tribe and pull their weight was swiftly given the boot, and didn't last very long on their own.

 

So we have learned to be social, to cooperate. It's hardwired for survival. And when we aren't able to do that, we know something is missing, something is wrong. And we strive to fix it, to belong. 

 

So reach out. Connect with others. And notice how that makes you feel. 

Connect with the Earth

 

Thousands of years ago, our ancestors walked barefoot or wore leather footwear, and they were all the better for it. Walking barefoot, or wearing leather which allows our sweat to dampen our covering an connect us with the earth, allowed our ancestors to connect directly to the earth, without even realising the healing benefits they were receiving.

 

Earthing, also called Grounding, is the process of walking barefoot on the earth and receiving a feed of negatively charged electrons which helps neutralise any free radicals in our body causing inflammation, the main cause of

 

Play

 

Have you ever seen a child at play looking totally stressed out with the weight of the world on his shoulders? Exactly!

 

Try bringing more play and fun into your day. Be childlike. Try looking at things like you are seeing them for the very first time, like a child would.

 

So it’s important to focus on all aspects of you, make time for you, and implement these even just one at a time, a little every day will make a huge difference to your health, reduce your stress and make you feel good in yourself.
